Minka Kelly Biography:
The star of Friday Night Lights, Parenthood and Charlie’s Angels, Minka Kelly is currently focusing on a new project: giving back. Minka recently teamed up with fashionABLE, an organization which creates employment opportunities for women in Africa through the production and sales of clothing and accessories.
After a trip to Ethiopia in 2009, Minka was inspired to help the countless women she met who are unable to provide for themselves and their families. fashionABLE teaches women the skills to make bags and scarves, skills that will greatly improve their quality of life. All profits from the sales of the accessories go back to Africa so the women can run a sustainable business on the ground.
fashionABLE launched the “Hibret” Zippered Pouch that Minka helped design on her second trip to Ethiopia last summer. “Hibret” in Amharic, the traditional language of Ethiopia, means collaboration.
In that spirit of collaboration, Minka brought together fashionABLE’s skilled scarf weaving partners to line the inside with a beautiful woven pattern, while the zippered pouch itself is crafted by our leather artisan partners.
Dedicated to celebrating commonalities and using differences to help each other, fashionABLE is creating opportunities for countless women in Africa.
Minka currently resides in Los Angeles.
