Jim Gaffigan Biography:
Jim Gaffigan has proven himself a major talent beloved to a wide range of audiences, achieving accolades and awards for his stand-up comedy, acting, and writing.
His clever, quiet style has made him one of today’s top five most successful touring comedians in the country and his CDs and DVDs have reached platinum sales. Gaffigan has had an unprecedented number of appearances on late night’s Letterman and Conan. His writing and voice work on the animated series “Pale Force” for Conan led to nominations for both a Broadband Emmy and a Webby Award.
In 2013, Gaffigan wrote his first book Dad Is Fat, where he expresses all the joys and horrors of life with five young children — everything from toddlers’ communication skills, to the eating habits of four-year-olds (“there is no difference between a four-year-old eating a taco and throwing a taco on the floor”). He released his second book, Food: A Love Story in Fall 2014.
Additionally, Gaffigan has had breakout guest appearances on many comedies and dramas ranging from HBO’s cult hits Flight of the Concords and Bored to Death to dramatic roles in all three versions of Law & Order.
In recent years, Gaffigan has also become a mainstay on the big screen with memorable roles in Going the Distance, Away We Go, It’s Kind of a Funny Story and Salvation Boulevard.
Further broadening his career, Gaffigan starred in his first Broadway production, That Championship Season. As part of the highly acclaimed play, Gaffigan appears in the ensemble alongside Chris Noth, Brian Cox, Jason Patric, and Kiefer Sutherland.
Gaffigan’s DRM-free download of his comedy special Mr. Universe, is available for $5. One dollar of each download will go to the Bob Woodruff Foundation, helping wounded servicemen and their families.
He currently resides in New York City.
